ServiceTitan Insiders Sold US$4.0m Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy
In the last year, many ServiceTitan, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTAN) insiders sold a substantial stake in the company which may have sparked shareholders' attention. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At ServiceTitan
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Chief Financial Officer, Dave Sherry, sold US$1.7m worth of shares at a price of US$105 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$111, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. We note that the biggest single sale was only 4.3% of Dave Sherry's holding.

Insider Ownership Of ServiceTitan
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. ServiceTitan insiders own 14% of the company, currently worth about US$1.4b based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
