Market Cool On OMNIQ Corp.'s (NASDAQ:OMQS) Revenues Pushing Shares 25% Lower
OMNIQ Corp. (NASDAQ:OMQS) shares have had a horrible month, losing 25% after a relatively good period beforehand. Instead of being rewarded, shareholders who have already held through the last twelve months are now sitting on a 24% share price drop.
Since its price has dipped substantially, OMNIQ may be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.3x, considering almost half of all companies in the IT industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 1.6x and even P/S higher than 4x aren't out of the ordinary. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

What Does OMNIQ's Recent Performance Look Like?
With revenue growth that's superior to most other companies of late, OMNIQ has been doing relatively well. It might be that many expect the strong revenue performance to degrade substantially, which has repressed the share price, and thus the P/S ratio. If the company manages to stay the course, then investors should be rewarded with a share price that matches its revenue figures.

There's an inherent assumption that a company should underperform the industry for P/S ratios like OMNIQ's to be considered reasonable.
If we review the last year of revenue growth, the company posted a terrific increase of 31%. Pleasingly, revenue has also lifted 79% in aggregate from three years ago, thanks to the last 12 months of growth. Accordingly, shareholders would have definitely welcomed those medium-term rates of revenue growth.
Turning to the outlook, the next year should generate growth of 17% as estimated by the dual analysts watching the company. With the industry only predicted to deliver 11%, the company is positioned for a stronger revenue result.
With this in consideration, we find it intriguing that OMNIQ's P/S sits behind most of its industry peers. Apparently some shareholders are doubtful of the forecasts and have been accepting significantly lower selling prices.
The Bottom Line On OMNIQ's P/S
OMNIQ's P/S has taken a dip along with its share price. It's argued the price-to-sales ratio is an inferior measure of value within certain industries, but it can be a powerful business sentiment indicator.
OMNIQ's analyst forecasts revealed that its superior revenue outlook isn't contributing to its P/S anywhere near as much as we would have predicted. The reason for this depressed P/S could potentially be found in the risks the market is pricing in. While the possibility of the share price plunging seems unlikely due to the high growth forecasted for the company, the market does appear to have some hesitation.
