Cadence’s LPDDR5X–Microsoft RAIDDR Memory Collaboration Could Be A Game Changer For Cadence Design Systems (CDNS)

  • Earlier this month, Cadence Design Systems announced what it calls the industry’s first LPDDR5X 9,600Mbps memory IP system solution for enterprise and data centers, combining its LPDDR5X IP with Microsoft’s RAIDDR error correction technology to deliver high performance, low power use and enterprise-grade reliability.
  • An important aspect of this launch is that Microsoft is both the technology contributor and first customer, highlighting growing interest in LPDDR5X-based architectures that aim to match DDR5-style reliability in a more compact, energy-efficient form factor for AI and other memory-intensive workloads.
  • Against this backdrop, we’ll examine how pairing LPDDR5X efficiency with Microsoft’s RAIDDR reliability could influence Cadence’s broader investment narrative.

What Is Cadence Design Systems' Investment Narrative?

To own Cadence Design Systems, you really have to believe in the durability of its role at the heart of chip and AI system design, and in its ability to turn that into steadily rising revenue and high returns on equity, even at a premium valuation. The new LPDDR5X 9,600 Mbps memory IP system with Microsoft’s RAIDDR slots neatly into that story as a potential near term credibility and relationship catalyst rather than a game changing financial event on its own, especially given the stock’s modest recent pullback and still rich earnings multiple. In the short run, the key drivers remain execution against raised 2025 guidance, ongoing design wins and the health of AI and semiconductor spending, while the biggest risks look tied to elevated expectations, pricing power in a competitive EDA market and any broader reset in enthusiasm for high multiple software names.

However, investors should also be aware of the risk that high expectations meet slower growth. Cadence Design Systems' share price has been on the slide but might be up to 29% below fair value. Find out if it's a bargain.

derek_3wsdg on Teladoc Health ·

You’ve overlooked the activist investor factor. Travis Cocke’s Voss has announced 5% ownership through a 13G filing. They’ve added to that 5% since, and in doing so, have created a structural trap door for 27.42 Million Shares actively sold short. Chuck will announce lots of positives on July 29 but it’s what Voss announces shortly after that will rock the overextended Teledoc shorts. The Walmart partnership is the tip of the iceberg. The market is missing the sheer regulatory and enterprise friction of modern corporate healthcare. Teladoc isn't a "consumer app"; it is the primary digital infrastructure integrated directly into the legacy backends of Tier-1 insurance companies and fortune 500 employers, covering 105 million+ lives. Teladoc is acting as the digital top-of-funnel engine for the world's largest retailer. If Voss pushes the narrative that Teladoc is effectively the outsourced digital brain of Walmart's entire healthcare footprint, the fair value shifts from a basic health multiple to an enterprise distribution premium. Additionally , we are in a structural gold rush for high-quality, legally compliant, longitudinal medical data to train vertical healthcare AI models. Large technology hyperscalers and pharmaceutical giants cannot simply scrape the internet for this; they need structured clinical inputs. Teladoc sits on one of the largest de-identified virtual medical datasets on earth. From the activist playbook , we’ll see Voss demand the immediate creation of a Data & Diagnostics Licensing Division, transforming a legacy liability into an incredibly high-margin, pure-software data asset that requires zero human clinician hours to scale. Chuck is doing great work and deserves credi5 for the Teledoc turnaround but it will be Travis Cocke who will be responsible for a share price way beyond your $15 valuation.
