Urban Outfitters Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the COO & Co-President, Francis Conforti, for US$1.5m worth of shares, at about US$42.64 per share. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$34.43. So it is hard to draw any strong conclusion from it.

Does Urban Outfitters Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Urban Outfitters insiders own about US$905m worth of shares (which is 28% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Urban Outfitters Insiders?
Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. And there weren't any purchases to give us comfort, over the last year. On the plus side, Urban Outfitters makes money, and is growing profits. While insiders do own a lot of shares in the company (which is good), our analysis of their transactions doesn't make us feel confident about the company.
