The recent 16% drop in Biomea Fusion, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:BMEA) stock could come as a blow to insiders who purchased US$156.0k worth of stock at an average buy price of US$6.93 over the past 12 months. Insiders purchase with the hope of seeing their investments increase in value over time. However, due to recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth US$78.3k, which is not great.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Biomea Fusion

The Independent Director Michael J. Hitchcock made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$101k worth of shares at a price of US$10.06 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$3.48 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

Biomea Fusion insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. Their average price was about US$6.93.
