Have Insiders Sold Roblox Shares Recently?

We wouldn't blame Roblox Corporation (NYSE:RBLX) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Arvind Chakravarthy, a company insider, recently netted about US$2.0m selling shares at an average price of US$95.23. However, it's crucial to note that they remain very much invested in the stock and that sale only reduced their holding by 8.6%.

Roblox Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Lead Independent Director, Anthony Lee, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$4.5m worth of shares at a price of US$131 each. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$92.73). So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

Insiders in Roblox didn't buy any shares in the last year. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Insider Ownership Of Roblox

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Roblox insiders own about US$7.0b worth of shares (which is 11% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Roblox Insiders?

Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. And even if we look at the last year, we didn't see any purchases. While insiders do own a lot of shares in the company (which is good), our analysis of their transactions doesn't make us feel confident about the company. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing. In terms of investment risks, we've identified 1 warning sign with Roblox and understanding this should be part of your investment process.
