Another View on Ecolab’s Valuation
The popular narrative points to Ecolab trading about 13% below a fair value of $323.71. Yet on earnings multiples, the story looks different. Ecolab trades on a P/E of 37.3x, compared with 23.6x for the US Chemicals industry, 27.7x for peers, and a fair ratio of 23.4x. That is a wide premium, which increases the risk that any wobble in execution or sentiment could matter more for the share price.
