I Like Usio's Direction, But Not Enough To Buy Right Now

Summary Usio, Inc. is transitioning from transactional services to an integrated fintech platform, focusing on recurring, tech-driven revenue streams for future growth. Despite a strong year-end finish with notable cash flow and payment processing volume increases, core revenue growth remains underwhelming. The company's valuation reflects investor optimism for future growth, but earnings volatility and execution risks make it a hold rather than a buy. Usio's shift to a platform model shows potential, but its ability to consistently generate high-margin revenue and free cash flow is still unproven. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

The fintech electronic payment company said total payment transactions processed in the second quarter of 2022 were 10.35M and included following processing results: Credit Card Dollars Processed (Including PayFac) was +2% sequentially, +9% year-over-year. Usio Buffeted By Voyager

The company's shares have sold off strongly on economic and crypto risk and the latter turned out to be real with their crypto partner Voyager entering into serious problems. Q1 margins showed some decline mostly on one-off investments, paving the way for recovery in subsequent quarters, and the company still gained cash. Guidance will likely be lowered considerably, and we think the shares will be dead money for a while, although we think most of the problems are priced in already. Longer term, PayFac and prepaid will likely to keep growing strongly, so there is still some lure for the patient investor.

Usio Is Getting Flushed With The Market

The shares are sold off in sympathy with FinTech companies trading on much higher multiples. Their crypto and ACH businesses do produce some exposure to a weakening economy. However, the company is largely a secular growth story on the back of fast-growing PayFac and prepaid segments.

Usio Is Close To Turning Profitable

Usio is firing on all cylinders and the company had its third consecutive quarter with positive adjusted EBITDA. The company is close to profitability. Management increased guidance again although the surprising thing is that it seems to indicate a flat H2 versus H1, which is likely to be too conservative, given the growth momentum.
