Latham Group (SWIM) Stock Jumps As Profit Returns And Fiberglass Demand Builds
Latham Group came into this earnings print as a quietly recovering pool equipment stock. Over the last three months the share price had already climbed about 27%, yet the Q2 release still triggered a fresh jolt, with the stock jumping another 28.1% to US$7.30 on Thursday.
The headline that moved the market was simple. Latham Group produced a profitable quarter, with Q2 net income of US$12.8 million and earnings per share back in positive territory at US$0.11. Revenue of US$197.5 million, backed by stronger in ground pool and cover sales, gave investors a clear earnings story to reassess the stock.

Latham Group Starts Delivering On Growth Playbook
Bulls argue that Latham Group can grow faster than the pool market by taking share in fiberglass pools and higher value add products, while using efficiency tools to protect margins. Q2 gives real proof points on that growth side. In ground pool revenue rose faster than the group overall, with fiberglass driving performance and now expected to account for about 80% of full year in ground pool sales and roughly a quarter of new U.S. pool starts. Sand States are a key test. Management flagged sustained double digit growth in Florida and is pushing into Texas next, which fits the thesis of concrete to fiberglass conversion.
The narrative also leans on better marketing and dealer productivity. Here the milestones look encouraging. Consumer leads grew 60% year on year, website traffic rose 30% and Latham remained the top searched fiberglass brand on Google.

The cautious view on Latham Group centers on a structurally weaker pool market and fragile profitability that could crack when costs or demand move in an unfavorable direction. This quarter does not fully support that view, but it does not dismiss it either. Revenue grew in pools, covers and liners, yet gross margin slipped to 35.5% and adjusted EBITDA margin edged down to 22.6%. Management linked the impact to ramp-up costs after a faster start to the season. That supports the execution risk argument that sudden demand can strain operations.
Macro sensitivity also appears in the need for transportation surcharges and liner price increases to offset higher freight and oil-related costs. The raised full-year guidance challenges the idea of a structurally capped market. However, lower net income of US$12.8 million compared with US$16.0 million a year ago means bearish investors can still point to earnings quality rather than just top-line growth.

Hey James! Thank you but I am not sure if I am reading this correctly as your analysis opens with "At A$36.602 per share, Woodside Energy Group (ASX: WDS) appears reasonably valued based on its existing operations and near-term production growth." I would like to say that the last time that WDS was above $36.00 per share was in October 2023, so I am a little confused by your statement w.r.t. current prices etc . Can you please explain?
