In the last year, many Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ:VICR) insiders sold a substantial stake in the company which may have sparked shareholders' attention. Knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more helpful when evaluating insider transactions, as insider selling can have various explanations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Vicor Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Corporate VP & Director, Claudio Tuozzolo, sold US$520k worth of shares at a price of US$96.80 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is US$36.50. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own.
