We note that the Solid Power, Inc. (NASDAQ:SLDP) Independent Director, Steven Goldberg, recently sold US$86k worth of stock for US$1.45 per share. That might not be a huge sum but it was 100% of their personal holding, so we find it a little discouraging.

Solid Power Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Notably, that recent sale by Steven Goldberg is the biggest insider sale of Solid Power shares that we've seen in the last year. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of US$1.43. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

In the last year Solid Power insiders didn't buy any company stock. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Insider Ownership Of Solid Power

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that Solid Power insiders own 7.6% of the company, worth about US$19m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Solid Power Insiders?

Insiders sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. And there weren't any purchases to give us comfort, over the last year. Insider ownership isn't particularly high, so this analysis makes us cautious about the company. So we'd only buy after careful consideration. So while it's helpful to know what insiders are doing in terms of buying or selling, it's also helpful to know the risks that a particular company is facing.
