It's common for many investors, especially those who are inexperienced, to buy shares in companies with a good story even if these companies are loss-making. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses. A loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the inflow of external capital may dry up.

In contrast to all that, many investors prefer to focus on companies like Ossia International (SGX:O08), which has not only revenues, but also profits. Even if this company is fairly valued by the market, investors would agree that generating consistent profits will continue to provide Ossia International with the means to add long-term value to shareholders.

Our analysis indicates that O08 is potentially undervalued!

How Fast Is Ossia International Growing?

If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price should eventually follow. So it makes sense that experienced investors pay close attention to company EPS when undertaking investment research. Shareholders will be happy to know that Ossia International's EPS has grown 20% each year, compound, over three years. If growth like this continues on into the future, then shareholders will have plenty to smile about.

Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. Ossia International's EBIT margins have actually improved by 3.8 percentage points in the last year, to reach 8.4%, but, on the flip side, revenue was down 6.5%. That falls short of ideal.

Since Ossia International is no giant, with a market capitalisation of S$33m, you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.

Are Ossia International Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Seeing insiders owning a large portion of the shares on issue is often a good sign. Their incentives will be aligned with the investors and there's less of a probability in a sudden sell-off that would impact the share price. So as you can imagine, the fact that Ossia International insiders own a significant number of shares certainly is appealing. In fact, they own 82% of the company, so they will share in the same delights and challenges experienced by the ordinary shareholders. Intuition will tell you this is a good sign because it suggests they will be incentivised to build value for shareholders over the long term. In terms of absolute value, insiders have S$27m invested in the business, at the current share price. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!

Is Ossia International Worth Keeping An Eye On?

If you believe that share price follows earnings per share you should definitely be delving further into Ossia International's strong EPS growth. This EPS growth rate is something the company should be proud of, and so it's no surprise that insiders are holding on to a considerable chunk of shares. However, before you get too excited we've discovered 3 warning signs for Ossia International (1 is a bit unpleasant!) that you should be aware of.
