This CapitaLand India Trust Insider Increased Their Holding In The Last Year
Looking at CapitaLand India Trust's (SGX:CY6U ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net buyers. That is, there were more number of shares purchased by insiders than there were sold.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
CapitaLand India Trust Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Chairman of the Board of CapitaLand India Trust Management Pte. Ltd. Manohar Ramesh Khiatani made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for S$515k worth of shares at a price of S$1.03 each. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (S$1.22), we still think insider buying is a positive. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Insider Ownership Of CapitaLand India Trust
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. From our data, it seems that CapitaLand India Trust insiders own 0.4% of the company, worth about S$7.3m. But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.
