Bullish Sunmoon Food Insider Buying Worth S$2.95m Yet To Pay Off
Insiders who bought S$2.95m worth of Sunmoon Food Company Limited's (SGX:AAJ) stock at an average buy price of S$0.023 over the last year may be disappointed by the recent 11% decrease in the stock. Insiders purchase with the hope of seeing their investments increase in value over time. However, due to recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth S$2.19m, which is not great.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Sunmoon Food Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Non-Independent Non-Executive Director Xiaojun Song for S$2.9m worth of shares, at about S$0.023 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being S$0.017). It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Does Sunmoon Food Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Sunmoon Food insiders own 24% of the company, worth about S$3.7m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
So What Do The Sunmoon Food Insider Transactions Indicate?
