For Net Insight Insiders, Selling kr5.4m Of Shares Was A Smart Move

Despite a 11% gain in Net Insight AB (publ)'s (STO:NETI B) stock price this week, shareholders shouldn't let up. In spite of the relatively cheap prices, insiders made the decision to sell kr5.4m worth of stock in the last 12 months. This could be a warning indicator of vulnerabilities in the future.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Net Insight Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the insider, Joakim Schedvins, sold kr1.5m worth of shares at a price of kr5.20 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (kr5.59). When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. This single sale was 93% of Joakim Schedvins's stake.

In total, Net Insight insiders sold more than they bought over the last year. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that Net Insight insiders own 23% of the company, worth about kr446m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Net Insight Insiders?

The fact that there have been no Net Insight insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. It's great to see high levels of insider ownership, but looking back over the last year, we don't gain confidence from the Net Insight insiders selling.
