Today is shaping up negative for Fragbite Group AB (publ) (STO:FRAG) shareholders, with the covering analyst delivering a substantial negative revision to this year's forecasts. Revenue and earnings per share (EPS) forecasts were both revised downwards, with the analyst seeing grey clouds on the horizon.

Following the downgrade, the consensus from sole analyst covering Fragbite Group is for revenues of kr251m in 2023, implying a considerable 8.4% decline in sales compared to the last 12 months. Losses are forecast to narrow 2.7% to kr1.10 per share. Yet before this consensus update, the analyst had been forecasting revenues of kr285m and losses of kr0.90 per share in 2023. So there's been quite a change-up of views after the recent consensus updates, with the analyst making a serious cut to their revenue forecasts while also expecting losses per share to increase.

Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. These estimates imply that sales are expected to slow, with a forecast annualised revenue decline of 16% by the end of 2023. This indicates a significant reduction from annual growth of 23% over the last year. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in the same industry are forecast to see their revenue grow 6.5% annually for the foreseeable future. So although its revenues are forecast to shrink, this cloud does not come with a silver lining - Fragbite Group is expected to lag the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that the analyst increased their loss per share estimates for this year. Regrettably, they also downgraded their revenue estimates, and the latest forecasts imply the business will grow sales slower than the wider market. We wouldn't be surprised to find shareholders feeling a bit shell-shocked, after these downgrades. It looks like the analyst has become a lot more bearish on Fragbite Group, and their negativity could be grounds for caution.

Even so, the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for the value creation of shareholders. We have analyst estimates for Fragbite Group going out as far as 2025, and you can see them free on our platform here.
