Shareholders of Senzime (STO:SEZI) Must Be Delighted With Their 607% Total Return
Long term investing can be life changing when you buy and hold the truly great businesses. And highest quality companies can see their share prices grow by huge amounts. To wit, the Senzime AB (publ) (STO:SEZI) share price has soared 569% over five years. And this is just one example of the epic gains achieved by some long term investors.
It really delights us to see such great share price performance for investors.

Because Senzime made a loss in the last twelve months, we think the market is probably more focussed on revenue and revenue growth, at least for now. Generally speaking, companies without profits are expected to grow revenue every year, and at a good clip. Some companies are willing to postpone profitability to grow revenue faster, but in that case one does expect good top-line growth.
For the last half decade, Senzime can boast revenue growth at a rate of 61% per year. Even measured against other revenue-focussed companies, that's a good result. Arguably, this is well and truly reflected in the strong share price gain of 46%(per year) over the same period. It's never too late to start following a top notch stock like Senzime, since some long term winners go on winning for decades. So we'd recommend you take a closer look at this one, but keep in mind the market seems optimistic.
The graphic below depicts how earnings and revenue have changed over time (unveil the exact values by clicking on the image).
We consider it positive that insiders have made significant purchases in the last year. Even so, future earnings will be far more important to whether current shareholders make money. What about the Total Shareholder Return (TSR)?
We've already covered Senzime's share price action, but we should also mention its total shareholder return (TSR). Arguably the TSR is a more complete return calculation because it accounts for the value of dividends (as if they were reinvested), along with the hypothetical value of any discounted capital that have been offered to shareholders. We note that Senzime's TSR, at 607% is higher than its share price return of 569%. When you consider it hasn't been paying a dividend, this data suggests shareholders have benefitted from a spin-off, or had the opportunity to acquire attractively priced shares in a discounted capital raising.
A Different Perspective
We're pleased to report that Senzime shareholders have received a total shareholder return of 35% over one year. Having said that, the five-year TSR of 48% a year, is even better. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too. Take risks, for example - Senzime has 3 warning signs (and 1 which is a bit unpleasant) we think you should know about.
Senzime is not the only stock that insiders are buying. For those who like to find winning investments this free list of growing companies with recent insider purchasing, could be just the ticket.
