Hopeful week for insiders who might be regretting buying kr12m of Getinge AB (publ) (STO:GETI B) stock earlier this year
Insiders who bought kr12m worth of Getinge AB (publ) (STO:GETI B) stock in the last year have seen some of their losses recouped as the stock gained 6.3% last week. However, the purchase is proving to be a costly gamble, since losses made by insiders have totalled kr1.7m since the time of purchase.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Getinge Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when CEO, President & Director Mattias Perjos bought kr4.2m worth of shares at a price of kr279 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than kr243 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Does Getinge Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Our data indicates that Getinge insiders own about kr99m worth of shares (which is 0.1% of the company). However, it's possible that insiders might have an indirect interest through a more complex structure. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.
