Rejlers (STO:REJL B) Has Announced That It Will Be Increasing Its Dividend To SEK4.50
The board of Rejlers AB (publ) (STO:REJL B) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of SEK4.50 on the 27th of April, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. This makes the dividend yield about the same as the industry average at 2.7%.

Rejlers' Payment Has Solid Earnings Coverage
Unless the payments are sustainable, the dividend yield doesn't mean too much. The last dividend was quite easily covered by Rejlers' earnings. This indicates that quite a large proportion of earnings is being invested back into the business.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 12.3% over the next year. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 52% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.
Dividend Volatility
While the company has been paying a dividend for a long time, it has cut the dividend at least once in the last 10 years. The annual payment during the last 10 years was SEK3.00 in 2013, and the most recent fiscal year payment was SEK4.50. This implies that the company grew its distributions at a yearly rate of about 4.1% over that duration. Modest growth in the dividend is good to see, but we think this is offset by historical cuts to the payments. It is hard to live on a dividend income if the company's earnings are not consistent.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
With a relatively unstable dividend, it's even more important to evaluate if earnings per share is growing, which could point to a growing dividend in the future. Rejlers has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 68% per annum. Rejlers is clearly able to grow rapidly while still returning cash to shareholders, positioning it to become a strong dividend payer in the future.
Rejlers Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
In summary, it is always positive to see the dividend being increased, and we are particularly pleased with its overall sustainability. The company is easily earning enough to cover its dividend payments and it is great to see that these earnings are being translated into cash flow. Taking this all into consideration, this looks like it could be a good dividend opportunity.
Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company.
