QleanAir's (STO:QAIR) Upcoming Dividend Will Be Larger Than Last Year's
The board of QleanAir AB (publ) (STO:QAIR) has announced that it will be increasing its dividend on the 19th of May to kr1.50. Based on the announced payment, the dividend yield for the company will be 3.9%, which is fairly typical for the industry.
While the dividend yield is important for income investors, it is also important to consider any large share price moves, as this will generally outweigh any gains from distributions. QleanAir's stock price has reduced by 41% in the last 3 months, which is not ideal for investors and can explain a sharp increase in the dividend yield.

QleanAir's Payment Has Solid Earnings Coverage
We aren't too impressed by dividend yields unless they can be sustained over time. However, QleanAir's earnings easily cover the dividend. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.
EPS is set to fall by 0.2% over the next 12 months. If the dividend continues along recent trends, we estimate the payout ratio could be 38%, which we consider to be quite comfortable, with most of the company's earnings left over to grow the business in the future.
QleanAir Is Still Building Its Track Record
The company hasn't been paying a dividend for very long at all, so we can't really make a judgement on how stable the dividend has been. This doesn't mean that the company can't pay a good dividend, but just that we want to wait until it can prove itself.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Investors who have held shares in the company for the past few years will be happy with the dividend income they have received. QleanAir has impressed us by growing EPS at 36% per year over the past three years. Rapid earnings growth and a low payout ratio suggest this company has been effectively reinvesting in its business. Should that continue, this company could have a bright future.
QleanAir Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that QleanAir is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. The distributions are easily covered by earnings, and there is plenty of cash being generated as well. However, it is worth noting that the earnings are expected to fall over the next year, which may not change the long term outlook, but could affect the dividend payment in the next 12 months. Taking this all into consideration, this looks like it could be a good dividend opportunity.
Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one.
