MCNEX's (KRX:097520) Upcoming Dividend Will Be Larger Than Last Year's
MCNEX Co., Ltd (KRX:097520) will increase its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 24th of April to ₩1000.00. This will take the dividend yield to an attractive 3.6%, providing a nice boost to shareholder returns.
MCNEX's Payment Could Potentially Have Solid Earnings Coverage
A big dividend yield for a few years doesn't mean much if it can't be sustained. Before making this announcement, MCNEX was easily earning enough to cover the dividend. This means that most of what the business earns is being used to help it grow.
Over the next year, EPS is forecast to fall by 3.9%. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we believe the payout ratio could be 27%, which we are pretty comfortable with and we think is feasible on an earnings basis.

MCNEX Is Still Building Its Track Record
The dividend's track record has been pretty solid, but with only 6 years of history we want to see a few more years of history before making any solid conclusions. The annual payment during the last 6 years was ₩300.00 in 2019, and the most recent fiscal year payment was ₩1000.00. This implies that the company grew its distributions at a yearly rate of about 22% over that duration. The dividend has been growing rapidly, however with such a short payment history we can't know for sure if payment can continue to grow over the long term, so caution may be warranted.
MCNEX Could Grow Its Dividend
Investors who have held shares in the company for the past few years will be happy with the dividend income they have received. It's encouraging to see that MCNEX has been growing its earnings per share at 8.3% a year over the past five years. Growth in EPS bodes well for the dividend, as does the low payout ratio that the company is currently reporting.
MCNEX Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
In summary, it is always positive to see the dividend being increased, and we are particularly pleased with its overall sustainability. The earnings easily cover the company's distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. If earnings do fall over the next 12 months, the dividend could be buffeted a little bit, but we don't think it should cause too much of a problem in the long term. Taking this all into consideration, this looks like it could be a good dividend opportunity.
Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company. Companies that are growing earnings tend to be the best dividend stocks over the long term.
