It is doubtless a positive to see that the Com2uS Holdings Corporation (KOSDAQ:063080) share price has gained some 60% in the last three months. But only the myopic could ignore the astounding decline over three years. Indeed, the share price is down a whopping 74% in the last three years. So we're relieved for long term holders to see a bit of uplift. But the more important question is whether the underlying business can justify a higher price still.

After losing 17% this past week, it's worth investigating the company's fundamentals to see what we can infer from past performance.

Com2uS Holdings wasn't profitable in the last twelve months, it is unlikely we'll see a strong correlation between its share price and its earnings per share (EPS). Arguably revenue is our next best option. Shareholders of unprofitable companies usually desire strong revenue growth. Some companies are willing to postpone profitability to grow revenue faster, but in that case one would hope for good top-line growth to make up for the lack of earnings.

In the last three years, Com2uS Holdings saw its revenue grow by 8.7% per year, compound. That's a fairly respectable growth rate. So it seems unlikely the 20% share price drop (each year) is entirely about the revenue. More likely, the market was spooked by the cost of that revenue. If you buy into companies that lose money then you always risk losing money yourself. Just don't lose the lesson.

A Different Perspective

While the broader market lost about 5.9% in the twelve months, Com2uS Holdings shareholders did even worse, losing 25%. However, it could simply be that the share price has been impacted by broader market jitters. It might be worth keeping an eye on the fundamentals, in case there's a good opportunity. Longer term investors wouldn't be so upset, since they would have made 2%, each year, over five years. It could be that the recent sell-off is an opportunity, so it may be worth checking the fundamental data for signs of a long term growth trend. It's always interesting to track share price performance over the longer term. But to understand Com2uS Holdings better, we need to consider many other factors.
