Chunbo (KOSDAQ:278280 shareholders incur further losses as stock declines 16% this week, taking three-year losses to 86%
Every investor on earth makes bad calls sometimes. But you want to avoid the really big losses like the plague. So spare a thought for the long term shareholders of Chunbo Co., Ltd. (KOSDAQ:278280); the share price is down a whopping 86% in the last three years. That would be a disturbing experience. The more recent news is of little comfort, with the share price down 52% in a year. Even worse, it's down 23% in about a month, which isn't fun at all. While a drop like that is definitely a body blow, money isn't as important as health and happiness.
With the stock having lost 16% in the past week, it's worth taking a look at business performance and seeing if there's any red flags.

Because Chunbo made a loss in the last twelve months, we think the market is probably more focussed on revenue and revenue growth, at least for now. Generally speaking, companies without profits are expected to grow revenue every year, and at a good clip. That's because fast revenue growth can be easily extrapolated to forecast profits, often of considerable size.
Over the last three years, Chunbo's revenue dropped 11% per year. That's not what investors generally want to see. The share price fall of 23% (per year, over three years) is a stern reminder that money-losing companies are expected to grow revenue. We're generally averse to companies with declining revenues, but we're not alone in that. Don't let a share price decline ruin your calm. You make better decisions when you're calm.

A Different Perspective
Investors in Chunbo had a tough year, with a total loss of 52%, against a market gain of about 5.9%. Even the share prices of good stocks drop sometimes, but we want to see improvements in the fundamental metrics of a business, before getting too interested. Unfortunately, last year's performance may indicate unresolved challenges, given that it was worse than the annualised loss of 3% over the last half decade. We realise that Baron Rothschild has said investors should "buy when there is blood on the streets", but we caution that investors should first be sure they are buying a high quality business. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too. To that end, you should be aware of the 1 warning sign we've spotted with Chunbo .
