Amidst increasing losses, Investors bid up Sambu Engineering & Construction (KRX:001470) 13% this past week
This week we saw the Sambu Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd (KRX:001470) share price climb by 13%. Meanwhile over the last three years the stock has dropped hard. Indeed, the share price is down a tragic 52% in the last three years. Some might say the recent bounce is to be expected after such a bad drop. Perhaps the company has turned over a new leaf.
While the stock has risen 13% in the past week but long term shareholders are still in the red, let's see what the fundamentals can tell us.
Check out our latest analysis for Sambu Engineering & Construction
Sambu Engineering & Construction wasn't profitable in the last twelve months, it is unlikely we'll see a strong correlation between its share price and its earnings per share (EPS). Arguably revenue is our next best option. When a company doesn't make profits, we'd generally hope to see good revenue growth. Some companies are willing to postpone profitability to grow revenue faster, but in that case one would hope for good top-line growth to make up for the lack of earnings.
Over three years, Sambu Engineering & Construction grew revenue at 11% per year. That's a fairly respectable growth rate. That contrasts with the weak share price, which has fallen 15% compounded, over three years. To be frank we're surprised to see revenue growth and share price growth diverge so strongly. So this is one stock that might be worth investigating further, or even adding to your watchlist.

A Different Perspective
While the broader market lost about 4.0% in the twelve months, Sambu Engineering & Construction shareholders did even worse, losing 50%. Having said that, it's inevitable that some stocks will be oversold in a falling market. The key is to keep your eyes on the fundamental developments. On the bright side, long term shareholders have made money, with a gain of 8% per year over half a decade. It could be that the recent sell-off is an opportunity, so it may be worth checking the fundamental data for signs of a long term growth trend. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too.
