Interworks Confidence (TSE:7374) Is Paying Out A Larger Dividend Than Last Year
Interworks Confidence Inc. (TSE:7374) will increase its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 14th of June to ¥30.00. This takes the dividend yield to 3.4%, which shareholders will be pleased with.

Interworks Confidence's Payment Has Solid Earnings Coverage
We like to see robust dividend yields, but that doesn't matter if the payment isn't sustainable. Prior to this announcement, Interworks Confidence's dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. This indicates that a lot of the earnings are being reinvested into the business, with the aim of fueling growth.
If the trend of the last few years continues, EPS will grow by 48.0% over the next 12 months. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 37% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.
Interworks Confidence Doesn't Have A Long Payment History
The dividend has been pretty stable looking back, but the company hasn't been paying one for very long. This makes it tough to judge how it would fare through a full economic cycle. The dividend has gone from an annual total of ¥40.00 in 2022 to the most recent total annual payment of ¥55.00. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 17% per annum over that time. The dividend has been growing rapidly, however with such a short payment history we can't know for sure if payment can continue to grow over the long term, so caution may be warranted.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Some investors will be chomping at the bit to buy some of the company's stock based on its dividend history. It's encouraging to see that Interworks Confidence has been growing its earnings per share at 48% a year over the past five years. The company doesn't have any problems growing, despite returning a lot of capital to shareholders, which is a very nice combination for a dividend stock to have.
We should note that Interworks Confidence has issued stock equal to 44% of shares outstanding. Regularly doing this can be detrimental - it's hard to grow dividends per share when new shares are regularly being created.
Interworks Confidence Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that Interworks Confidence is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company. Taking the debate a bit further, we've identified 3 warning signs for Interworks Confidence that investors need to be conscious of moving forward. Looking for more high-yielding dividend ideas?
