Results: Fanuc Corporation Beat Earnings Expectations And Analysts Now Have New Forecasts
As you might know, Fanuc Corporation (TSE:6954) recently reported its interim numbers. Revenues were JP¥388b, approximately in line with whatthe analysts expected, although statutory earnings per share (EPS) crushed expectations, coming in at JP¥43.71, an impressive 28% ahead of estimates. The analysts typically update their forecasts at each earnings report, and we can judge from their estimates whether their view of the company has changed or if there are any new concerns to be aware of. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.

Following last week's earnings report, Fanuc's 19 analysts are forecasting 2025 revenues to be JP¥796.7b, approximately in line with the last 12 months. Statutory per-share earnings are expected to be JP¥147, roughly flat on the last 12 months. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of JP¥803.6b and earnings per share (EPS) of JP¥143 in 2025. So the consensus seems to have become somewhat more optimistic on Fanuc's earnings potential following these results.
There's been no major changes to the consensus price target of JP¥4,978, suggesting that the improved earnings per share outlook is not enough to have a long-term positive impact on the stock's valuation. There's another way to think about price targets though, and that's to look at the range of price targets put forward by analysts, because a wide range of estimates could suggest a diverse view on possible outcomes for the business. There are some variant perceptions on Fanuc, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at JP¥5,700 and the most bearish at JP¥3,300 per share. These price targets show that analysts do have some differing views on the business, but the estimates do not vary enough to suggest to us that some are betting on wild success or utter failure.
Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that Fanuc's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2025 expected to display 3.1% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 12% over the past five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 4.8% per year. Factoring in the forecast slowdown in growth, it seems obvious that Fanuc is also expected to grow slower than other industry participants.
The Bottom Line
The most important thing here is that the analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates, suggesting that there has been a clear increase in optimism towards Fanuc following these results. Fortunately, the analysts also reconfirmed their revenue estimates, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Although our data does suggest that Fanuc's revenue is expected to perform worse than the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at JP¥4,978, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.
With that said, the long-term trajectory of the company's earnings is a lot more important than next year. We have forecasts for Fanuc going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here.
