We Think That There Are Some Issues For PRO FX Tech (NSE:PROFX) Beyond Its Promising Earnings
The market for PRO FX Tech Limited's (NSE:PROFX) stock was strong after it released a healthy earnings report last week. Despite this, our analysis suggests that there are some factors weakening the foundations of those good profit numbers.
A Closer Look At PRO FX Tech's Earnings
Many investors haven't heard of the accrual ratio from cashflow, but it is actually a useful measure of how well a company's profit is backed up by free cash flow (FCF) during a given period. To get the accrual ratio we first subtract FCF from profit for a period, and then divide that number by the average operating assets for the period. You could think of the accrual ratio from cashflow as the 'non-FCF profit ratio'.
That means a negative accrual ratio is a good thing, because it shows that the company is bringing in more free cash flow than its profit would suggest. While having an accrual ratio above zero is of little concern, we do think it's worth noting when a company has a relatively high accrual ratio. Notably, there is some academic evidence that suggests that a high accrual ratio is a bad sign for near-term profits, generally speaking.
Over the twelve months to March 2026, PRO FX Tech recorded an accrual ratio of 0.58. Statistically speaking, that's a real negative for future earnings. To wit, the company did not generate one whit of free cashflow in that time. Even though it reported a profit of ₹151.7m, a look at free cash flow indicates it actually burnt through ₹106m in the last year. We saw that FCF was ₹27m a year ago though, so PRO FX Tech has at least been able to generate positive FCF in the past.

Our Take On PRO FX Tech's Profit Performance
As we discussed above, we think PRO FX Tech's earnings were not supported by free cash flow, which might concern some investors. As a result, we think it may well be the case that PRO FX Tech's underlying earnings power is lower than its statutory profit. But on the bright side, its earnings per share have grown at an extremely impressive rate over the last three years. The goal of this article has been to assess how well we can rely on the statutory earnings to reflect the company's potential, but there is plenty more to consider. Keep in mind, when it comes to analysing a stock it's worth noting the risks involved. Our analysis shows 2 warning signs for PRO FX Tech (1 is significant!) and we strongly recommend you look at these before investing.
This note has only looked at a single factor that sheds light on the nature of PRO FX Tech's profit. But there is always more to discover if you are capable of focussing your mind on minutiae. Some people consider a high return on equity to be a good sign of a quality business.
