As you might know, Mphasis Limited (NSE:MPHASIS) last week released its latest third-quarter, and things did not turn out so great for shareholders. Results look to have been somewhat negative - revenue fell 2.4% short of analyst estimates at ₹33b, and statutory earnings of ₹19.64 per share missed forecasts by 4.7%. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.

After the latest results, the 25 analysts covering Mphasis are now predicting revenues of ₹150.9b in 2025. If met, this would reflect a decent 14% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are predicted to climb 16% to ₹95.90. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of ₹153.3b and earnings per share (EPS) of ₹97.19 in 2025. So it's pretty clear that, although the analysts have updated their estimates, there's been no major change in expectations for the business following the latest results.

There were no changes to revenue or earnings estimates or the price target of ₹2,484, suggesting that the company has met expectations in its recent result. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. There are some variant perceptions on Mphasis, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at ₹2,999 and the most bearish at ₹1,459 per share. Note the wide gap in analyst price targets? This implies to us that there is a fairly broad range of possible scenarios for the underlying business.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. We can infer from the latest estimates that forecasts expect a continuation of Mphasis'historical trends, as the 11% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2025 is roughly in line with the 13% annual growth over the past five years. Compare this with the broader industry, which analyst estimates (in aggregate) suggest will see revenues grow 8.5% annually. So it's pretty clear that Mphasis is forecast to grow substantially faster than its industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that there's been no major change in sentiment, with the analysts reconfirming that the business is performing in line with their previous earnings per share estimates. Happily, there were no major changes to revenue forecasts, with the business still expected to grow faster than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.

Following on from that line of thought, we think that the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. We have estimates - from multiple Mphasis analysts - going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here.
