Viewing insider transactions for Mastek Limited's (NSE:MASTEK ) over the last year, we see that insiders were net sellers. This means that a larger number of shares were sold by insiders in relation to shares purchased.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Mastek Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The insider, Usha Sundar, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for ₹97m worth of shares at a price of ₹2,766 each. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (₹2,226). So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels. Usha Sundar was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

Mastek Insiders Are Selling The Stock

Does Mastek Boast High Insider Ownership?

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that Mastek insiders own 49% of the company, worth about ₹33b. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.

So What Do The Mastek Insider Transactions Indicate?

An insider sold Mastek shares recently, but they didn't buy any. And our longer term analysis of insider transactions didn't bring confidence, either.
