For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it currently lacks a track record of revenue and profit. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.

Despite being in the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, many investors still adopt a more traditional strategy; buying shares in profitable companies like LTIMindtree (NSE:LTIM). While profit isn't the sole metric that should be considered when investing, it's worth recognising businesses that can consistently produce it.

LTIMindtree's Earnings Per Share Are Growing

If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price should eventually follow. That means EPS growth is considered a real positive by most successful long-term investors. Shareholders will be happy to know that LTIMindtree's EPS has grown 18% each year, compound, over three years. If growth like this continues on into the future, then shareholders will have plenty to smile about.

It's often helpful to take a look at earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. While we note LTIMindtree achieved similar EBIT margins to last year, revenue grew by a solid 105% to ₹342b. That's progress.

Are LTIMindtree Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

We would not expect to see insiders owning a large percentage of a ₹1.5t company like LTIMindtree. But thanks to their investment in the company, it's pleasing to see that there are still incentives to align their actions with the shareholders. Holding ₹5.4b worth of stock in the company is no laughing matter and insiders will be committed in delivering the best outcomes for shareholders. This would indicate that the goals of shareholders and management are one and the same.

Is LTIMindtree Worth Keeping An Eye On?

You can't deny that LTIMindtree has grown its earnings per share at a very impressive rate. That's attractive. Further, the high level of insider ownership is impressive and suggests that the management appreciates the EPS growth and has faith in LTIMindtree's continuing strength. Fast growth and confident insiders should be enough to warrant further research, so it would seem that it's a good stock to follow.
