Here's Why I Think Radico Khaitan (NSE:RADICO) Might Deserve Your Attention Today
It's only natural that many investors, especially those who are new to the game, prefer to buy shares in 'sexy' stocks with a good story, even if those businesses lose money. But as Peter Lynch said in One Up On Wall Street, 'Long shots almost never pay off.'
If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Radico Khaitan (NSE:RADICO). While profit is not necessarily a social good, it's easy to admire a business that can consistently produce it. In comparison, loss making companies act like a sponge for capital - but unlike such a sponge they do not always produce something when squeezed.

Radico Khaitan's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price will eventually follow. It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. Impressively, Radico Khaitan has grown EPS by 33% per year, compound, in the last three years. As a general rule, we'd say that if a company can keep up that sort of growth, shareholders will be smiling.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. Radico Khaitan reported flat revenue and EBIT margins over the last year. That's not bad, but it doesn't point to ongoing future growth, either.

While profitability drives the upside, prudent investors always check the balance sheet, too.
Are Radico Khaitan Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
It makes me feel more secure owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, thusly more closely aligning our interests. So it is good to see that Radico Khaitan insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. To be specific, they have ₹1.9b worth of shares. That shows significant buy-in, and may indicate conviction in the business strategy. Despite being just 3.5% of the company, the value of that investment is enough to show insiders have plenty riding on the venture.
Is Radico Khaitan Worth Keeping An Eye On?
Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about Radico Khaitan's strong EPS growth. Further, the high level of insider ownership impresses me, and suggests that I'm not the only one who appreciates the EPS growth. So this is very likely the kind of business that I like to spend time researching, with a view to discerning its true value. Now, you could try to make up your mind on Radico Khaitan by focusing on just these factors, or you could also consider how its price-to-earnings ratio compares to other companies in its industry.
Although Radico Khaitan certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
