It's only natural that many investors, especially those who are new to the game, prefer to buy shares in 'sexy' stocks with a good story, even if those businesses lose money. But as Warren Buffett has mused, 'If you've been playing poker for half an hour and you still don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy.' When they buy such story stocks, investors are all too often the patsy.

If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Likhitha Infrastructure (NSE:LIKHITHA). While profit is not necessarily a social good, it's easy to admire a business that can consistently produce it. Conversely, a loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the sweet milk of external capital may run sour.

Likhitha Infrastructure's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.

The market is a voting machine in the short term, but a weighing machine in the long term, so share price follows earnings per share (EPS) eventually. It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. Impressively, Likhitha Infrastructure has grown EPS by 37% per year, compound, in the last three years. If the company can sustain that sort of growth, we'd expect shareholders to come away winners.

Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. The good news is that Likhitha Infrastructure is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 5.1 percentage points to 22%, over the last year. That's great to see, on both counts.

Since Likhitha Infrastructure is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₹6.4b, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.

Are Likhitha Infrastructure Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Personally, I like to see high insider ownership of a company, since it suggests that it will be managed in the interests of shareholders. So as you can imagine, the fact that Likhitha Infrastructure insiders own a significant number of shares certainly appeals to me. Indeed, with a collective holding of 81%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. This makes me think they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - something I like to see. In terms of absolute value, insiders have ₹5.2b invested in the business, using the current share price. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!

It means a lot to see insiders invested in the business, but I find myself wondering if remuneration policies are shareholder friendly. Well, based on the CEO pay, I'd say they are indeed. For companies with market capitalizations under ₹15b, like Likhitha Infrastructure, the median CEO pay is around ₹2.9m.

The Likhitha Infrastructure CEO received total compensation of only ₹1.6m in the year to . This could be considered a token amount, and indicates that the company does not need to use payment to motivate the CEO - that is often a good sign. CEO remuneration levels are not the most important metric for investors, but when the pay is modest, that does support enhanced alignment between the CEO and the ordinary shareholders. I'd also argue reasonable pay levels attest to good decision making more generally.

Should You Add Likhitha Infrastructure To Your Watchlist?

Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about Likhitha Infrastructure's strong EPS growth. If you need more convincing beyond that EPS growth rate, don't forget about the reasonable remuneration and the high insider ownership. This may only be a fast rundown, but the takeaway for me is that Likhitha Infrastructure is worth keeping an eye on. We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 3 warning signs for Likhitha Infrastructure (1 doesn't sit too well with us!) that you need to be mindful of.
