If You Like EPS Growth Then Check Out Jindal Worldwide (NSE:JINDWORLD) Before It's Too Late

Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.

In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like Jindal Worldwide (NSE:JINDWORLD), which has not only revenues, but also profits. Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

Jindal Worldwide's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.

If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price will eventually follow. That makes EPS growth an attractive quality for any company. Jindal Worldwide managed to grow EPS by 11% per year, over three years. That's a good rate of growth, if it can be sustained.

I like to see top-line growth as an indication that growth is sustainable, and I look for a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin to point to a competitive moat (though some companies with low margins also have moats). While we note Jindal Worldwide's EBIT margins were flat over the last year, revenue grew by a solid 33% to ₹22b. That's progress.

Jindal Worldwide isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of ₹13b. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.

Are Jindal Worldwide Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Many consider high insider ownership to be a strong sign of alignment between the leaders of a company and the ordinary shareholders. So we're pleased to report that Jindal Worldwide insiders own a meaningful share of the business. Indeed, with a collective holding of 85%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. This makes me think they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - something I like to see. In terms of absolute value, insiders have ₹11b invested in the business, using the current share price. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!

It means a lot to see insiders invested in the business, but I find myself wondering if remuneration policies are shareholder friendly. Well, based on the CEO pay, I'd say they are indeed. I discovered that the median total compensation for the CEOs of companies like Jindal Worldwide with market caps between ₹7.4b and ₹30b is about ₹15m.

The CEO of Jindal Worldwide was paid just ₹2.4m in total compensation for the year ending . You could consider this pay as somewhat symbolic, which suggests the CEO does not need a lot of compensation to stay motivated. CEO remuneration levels are not the most important metric for investors, but when the pay is modest, that does support enhanced alignment between the CEO and the ordinary shareholders. I'd also argue reasonable pay levels attest to good decision making more generally.

Should You Add Jindal Worldwide To Your Watchlist?

One important encouraging feature of Jindal Worldwide is that it is growing profits. The fact that EPS is growing is a genuine positive for Jindal Worldwide, but the pretty picture gets better than that. With a meaningful level of insider ownership, and reasonable CEO pay, a reasonable mind might conclude that this is one stock worth watching. It is worth noting though that we have found 3 warning signs for Jindal Worldwide (2 are potentially serious!) that you need to take into consideration.

Although Jindal Worldwide certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
