Zooming In On G1 Secure Solutions' Earnings
In high finance, the key ratio used to measure how well a company converts reported profits into free cash flow (FCF) is the accrual ratio (from cashflow). To get the accrual ratio we first subtract FCF from profit for a period, and then divide that number by the average operating assets for the period. This ratio tells us how much of a company's profit is not backed by free cashflow.
That means a negative accrual ratio is a good thing, because it shows that the company is bringing in more free cash flow than its profit would suggest. That is not intended to imply we should worry about a positive accrual ratio, but it's worth noting where the accrual ratio is rather high. Notably, there is some academic evidence that suggests that a high accrual ratio is a bad sign for near-term profits, generally speaking.
For the year to September 2024, G1 Secure Solutions had an accrual ratio of -0.29. That indicates that its free cash flow quite significantly exceeded its statutory profit. Indeed, in the last twelve months it reported free cash flow of ₪84m, well over the ₪27.3m it reported in profit. G1 Secure Solutions' free cash flow improved over the last year, which is generally good to see.

Our Take On G1 Secure Solutions' Profit Performance
As we discussed above, G1 Secure Solutions' accrual ratio indicates strong conversion of profit to free cash flow, which is a positive for the company. Because of this, we think G1 Secure Solutions' underlying earnings potential is as good as, or possibly even better, than the statutory profit makes it seem! Unfortunately, though, its earnings per share actually fell back over the last year. At the end of the day, it's essential to consider more than just the factors above, if you want to understand the company properly. Keep in mind, when it comes to analysing a stock it's worth noting the risks involved.
