Looking at China Gas Holdings Limited's (HKG:384 ) insider transactions over the last year, we can see that insiders were net sellers. That is, there were more number of shares sold by insiders than there were purchased.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

China Gas Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Executive President & Executive Director, Yong Huang, sold HK$24m worth of shares at a price of HK$6.11 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (HK$7.78). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. This single sale was just 2.4% of Yong Huang's stake. Yong Huang was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.

Insider Ownership Of China Gas Holdings
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. China Gas Holdings insiders own about HK$4.6b worth of shares (which is 11% of the company). Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
