Rosslyn Data Technologies Insiders Are Down UK£42k But Regain Some Losses
Insiders who bought UK£264.0k worth of Rosslyn Data Technologies plc (LON:RDT) stock in the last year recovered part of their losses as the stock rose by 14% last week. However, the purchase is proving to be an expensive wager as insiders are yet to get ahead of their losses which currently stand at UK£42k since the time of purchase.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
Rosslyn Data Technologies Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Non-Executive Chairman James Appleby bought UK£264k worth of shares at a price of UK£0.05 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of UK£0.042. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. James Appleby was the only individual insider to buy during the last year.

Insider Ownership Of Rosslyn Data Technologies
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Our data indicates that Rosslyn Data Technologies insiders own about UK£383k worth of shares (which is 13% of the company). But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.
