While it’s been a great week for Animalcare Group plc (LON:ANCR) shareholders after stock gained 16%, company insiders might have missed out on those gains after selling stock earlier this year. Had they waited, they might have been able to sell their stock at much higher prices and thereby received a better value on their investment.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Animalcare Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The CEO & Director, Jennifer Ann Winter, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for UK£214k worth of shares at a price of UK£2.25 each. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of UK£2.72, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was 58% of Jennifer Ann Winter's holding.
