Insiders In Thor Energy Still Down 25% On UK£990.8k Investment
Insiders who purchased UK£990.8k worth of Thor Energy Plc (LON:THR) shares over the past year recouped some of their losses after price gained 16% last week. The purchase, however, has proven to be a pricey bet, with losses currently totalling UK£246k.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
Thor Energy Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Ross Warner bought UK£991k worth of shares at a price of UK£0.0073 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of UK£0.0055. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. Ross Warner was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

Insider Ownership
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Thor Energy insiders own about UK£912k worth of shares. That equates to 16% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
