Teleperformance's (EPA:TEP) Shareholders Will Receive A Bigger Dividend Than Last Year

The board of Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEP) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of €4.20 on the 28th of May, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. This will take the annual payment to 4.5% of the stock price, which is above what most companies in the industry pay.

Teleperformance's Future Dividend Projections Appear Well Covered By Earnings

If the payments aren't sustainable, a high yield for a few years won't matter that much. The last dividend was quite easily covered by Teleperformance's earnings. This indicates that quite a large proportion of earnings is being invested back into the business.

The next year is set to see EPS grow by 57.2%. If the dividend continues along recent trends, we estimate the payout ratio will be 35%, which is in the range that makes us comfortable with the sustainability of the dividend.

Teleperformance Has A Solid Track Record

The company has been paying a dividend for a long time, and it has been quite stable which gives us confidence in the future dividend potential. The annual payment during the last 10 years was €0.92 in 2015, and the most recent fiscal year payment was €4.20. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 16% a year over that time. So, dividends have been growing pretty quickly, and even more impressively, they haven't experienced any notable falls during this period.

We Could See Teleperformance's Dividend Growing

Some investors will be chomping at the bit to buy some of the company's stock based on its dividend history. Teleperformance has impressed us by growing EPS at 5.2% per year over the past five years. Earnings are on the uptrend, and it is only paying a small portion of those earnings to shareholders.

We Really Like Teleperformance's Dividend

Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that Teleperformance is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.

Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company. For example, we've picked out 1 warning sign for Teleperformance that investors should know about before committing capital to this stock.
