Today is shaping up negative for Poujoulat SA (EPA:ALPJT) shareholders, with the covering analyst delivering a substantial negative revision to this year's forecasts. There was a fairly draconian cut to their revenue estimates, perhaps an implicit admission that previous forecasts were much too optimistic.

After the downgrade, the sole analyst covering Poujoulat is now predicting revenues of €366m in 2026. If met, this would reflect a decent 8.4% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Prior to the latest estimates, the analyst was forecasting revenues of €415m in 2026. The consensus view seems to have become more pessimistic on Poujoulat, noting the measurable cut to revenue estimates in this update.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. We would highlight that Poujoulat's revenue growth is expected to slow, with the forecast 8.4% annualised growth rate until the end of 2026 being well below the historical 12% p.a. growth over the last five years. By way of comparison, the other companies in this industry with analyst coverage are forecast to grow their revenue at 5.3% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while Poujoulat's revenue growth is expected to slow, it's still expected to grow faster than the industry itself.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that the analyst cut their revenue estimates for this year. The analyst also expects revenues to grow faster than the wider market. Given the stark change in sentiment, we'd understand if investors became more cautious on Poujoulat after today.
