Taaleri Oyj (HEL:TAALA) shareholders will have a reason to smile today, with the analysts making substantial upgrades to this year's statutory forecasts. The analysts greatly increased their revenue estimates, suggesting a stark improvement in business fundamentals.

Following the latest upgrade, the current consensus, from the three analysts covering Taaleri Oyj, is for revenues of €69m in 2023, which would reflect an uncomfortable 8.3% reduction in Taaleri Oyj's sales over the past 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are supposed to plunge 37% to €0.80 in the same period. Prior to this update, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of €61m and earnings per share (EPS) of €0.71 in 2023. There has definitely been an improvement in perception recently, with the analysts substantially increasing both their earnings and revenue estimates.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. One more thing stood out to us about these estimates, and it's the idea that Taaleri Oyj's decline is expected to accelerate, with revenues forecast to fall at an annualised rate of 16% to the end of 2023. This tops off a historical decline of 1.3% a year over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to see their revenue grow 8.4% per year. So while a broad number of companies are forecast to grow, unfortunately Taaleri Oyj is expected to see its sales affected worse than other companies in the industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away from this upgrade is that analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates for this year, expecting improving business conditions. Pleasantly, analysts also upgraded their revenue estimates, and their forecasts suggest the business is expected to grow slower than the wider market. More bullish expectations could be a signal for investors to take a closer look at Taaleri Oyj.
