How Strong Is Gestamp Automoción's Balance Sheet?
The latest balance sheet data shows that Gestamp Automoción had liabilities of €3.79b due within a year, and liabilities of €3.37b falling due after that. Offsetting this, it had €1.18b in cash and €1.98b in receivables that were due within 12 months. So its liabilities outweigh the sum of its cash and (near-term) receivables by €4.00b.
The deficiency here weighs heavily on the €2.40b company itself, as if a child were struggling under the weight of an enormous back-pack full of books, his sports gear, and a trumpet. We feel some trepidation about Gestamp Automoción's difficulty level of total liabilities, but we've got positives to focus on, too. For example, its EBIT growth rate and conversion of EBIT to free cash flow give us some confidence in its ability to manage its debt. Looking at all the angles mentioned above, it does seem to us that Gestamp Automoción is a somewhat risky investment as a result of its debt.
