Scout24's Earnings Easily Cover The Distributions
A big dividend yield for a few years doesn't mean much if it can't be sustained. The last dividend was quite easily covered by Scout24's earnings. This means that a large portion of its earnings are being retained to grow the business.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 71.3% over the next year. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 41% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.
Scout24 Is Still Building Its Track Record
Scout24's dividend has been pretty stable for a little while now, but we will continue to be cautious until it has been demonstrated for a few more years. The dividend has gone from an annual total of €0.30 in 2017 to the most recent total annual payment of €1.00. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 22% a year over that time. We're not overly excited about the relatively short history of dividend payments, however the dividend is growing at a nice rate and we might take a closer look.
We Could See Scout24's Dividend Growing
Investors could be attracted to the stock based on the quality of its payment history. We are encouraged to see that Scout24 has grown earnings per share at 9.8% per year over the past five years. Shareholders are getting plenty of the earnings returned to them, which combined with strong growth makes this quite appealing.
Scout24 Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that Scout24 is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
It's important to note that companies having a consistent dividend policy will generate greater investor confidence than those having an erratic one. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company.
