Market Might Still Lack Some Conviction On Longshine Technology Group Co., Ltd. (SZSE:300682) Even After 42% Share Price Boost

Longshine Technology Group Co., Ltd. (SZSE:300682) shareholders have had their patience rewarded with a 42% share price jump in the last month. Unfortunately, the gains of the last month did little to right the losses of the last year with the stock still down 38% over that time.

In spite of the firm bounce in price, Longshine Technology Group's price-to-earnings (or "P/E") ratio of 23.2x might still make it look like a buy right now compared to the market in China, where around half of the companies have P/E ratios above 30x and even P/E's above 58x are quite common. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/E at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

Recent times have been pleasing for Longshine Technology Group as its earnings have risen in spite of the market's earnings going into reverse. It might be that many expect the strong earnings performance to degrade substantially, possibly more than the market, which has repressed the P/E. If you like the company, you'd be hoping this isn't the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

Is There Any Growth For Longshine Technology Group?

Longshine Technology Group's P/E ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the market.

Retrospectively, the last year delivered an exceptional 33% gain to the company's bottom line. However, this wasn't enough as the latest three year period has seen a very unpleasant 29% drop in EPS in aggregate. So unfortunately, we have to acknowledge that the company has not done a great job of growing earnings over that time.

Turning to the outlook, the next three years should generate growth of 22% per year as estimated by the eleven analysts watching the company. That's shaping up to be materially higher than the 19% per year growth forecast for the broader market.

With this information, we find it odd that Longshine Technology Group is trading at a P/E lower than the market. Apparently some shareholders are doubtful of the forecasts and have been accepting significantly lower selling prices.

What We Can Learn From Longshine Technology Group's P/E?

Despite Longshine Technology Group's shares building up a head of steam, its P/E still lags most other companies. Typically, we'd caution against reading too much into price-to-earnings ratios when settling on investment decisions, though it can reveal plenty about what other market participants think about the company.

Our examination of Longshine Technology Group's analyst forecasts revealed that its superior earnings outlook isn't contributing to its P/E anywhere near as much as we would have predicted. When we see a strong earnings outlook with faster-than-market growth, we assume potential risks are what might be placing significant pressure on the P/E ratio. At least price risks look to be very low, but investors seem to think future earnings could see a lot of volatility.

We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 3 warning signs for Longshine Technology Group that you need to be mindful of.
