Orla Mining Ltd. (TSE:OLA) shareholders will have a reason to smile today, with the analysts making substantial upgrades to next year's statutory forecasts. The analysts greatly increased their revenue estimates, suggesting a stark improvement in business fundamentals.

Following the upgrade, the most recent consensus for Orla Mining from its three analysts is for revenues of US$767m in 2025 which, if met, would be a huge 144% increase on its sales over the past 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are presumed to leap 2,284% to US$0.33. Before this latest update, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$619m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$0.26 in 2025. There has definitely been an improvement in perception recently, with the analysts substantially increasing both their earnings and revenue estimates.

Although the analysts have upgraded their earnings estimates, there was no change to the consensus price target of US$6.14, suggesting that the forecast performance does not have a long term impact on the company's valuation. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. There are some variant perceptions on Orla Mining, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at US$6.95 and the most bearish at US$5.03 per share. There are definitely some different views on the stock, but the range of estimates is not wide enough as to imply that the situation is unforecastable, in our view.

Of course, another way to look at these forecasts is to place them into context against the industry itself. It's clear from the latest estimates that Orla Mining's rate of growth is expected to accelerate meaningfully, with the forecast 104% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2025 noticeably faster than its historical growth of 67% p.a. over the past five years. Compare this with other companies in the same industry, which are forecast to grow their revenue 16% annually. It seems obvious that, while the growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, the analysts also expect Orla Mining to grow faster than the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The biggest takeaway for us from these new estimates is that analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates, with improved earnings power expected for next year. They also upgraded their revenue estimates for next year, and sales are expected to grow faster than the wider market. Some investors might be disappointed to see that the price target is unchanged, but we feel that improving fundamentals are usually a positive - assuming these forecasts are met! So Orla Mining could be a good candidate for more research.

Still, the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. At Simply Wall St, we have a full range of analyst estimates for Orla Mining going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here..
