If You Like EPS Growth Then Check Out Solution Financial (CVE:SFI) Before It's Too Late
Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. And in their study titled Who Falls Prey to the Wolf of Wall Street?' Leuz et. al. found that it is 'quite common' for investors to lose money by buying into 'pump and dump' schemes.
So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like Solution Financial (CVE:SFI). While that doesn't make the shares worth buying at any price, you can't deny that successful capitalism requires profit, eventually. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

Solution Financial's Improving Profits
In the last three years Solution Financial's earnings per share took off like a rocket; fast, and from a low base. So the actual rate of growth doesn't tell us much. As a result, I'll zoom in on growth over the last year, instead. Like a firecracker arcing through the night sky, Solution Financial's EPS shot from CA$0.0036 to CA$0.0072, over the last year. Year on year growth of 99% is certainly a sight to behold. The best case scenario? That the business has hit a true inflection point.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. I note that, last year, Solution Financial's revenue from operations was lower than its revenue, so that could distort my analysis of its margins. While we note Solution Financial's EBIT margins were flat over the last year, revenue grew by a solid 68% to CA$18m. That's a real positive.

Since Solution Financial is no giant, with a market capitalization of CA$40m, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.
Are Solution Financial Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Personally, I like to see high insider ownership of a company, since it suggests that it will be managed in the interests of shareholders. So we're pleased to report that Solution Financial insiders own a meaningful share of the business. Indeed, with a collective holding of 62%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. This makes me think they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - something I like to see. With that sort of holding, insiders have about CA$25m riding on the stock, at current prices. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!
Does Solution Financial Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
Solution Financial's earnings per share growth have been levitating higher, like a mountain goat scaling the Alps. That sort of growth is nothing short of eye-catching, and the large investment held by insiders certainly brightens my view of the company. At times fast EPS growth is a sign the business has reached an inflection point; and I do like those. So yes, on this short analysis I do think it's worth considering Solution Financial for a spot on your watchlist. Still, you should learn about the 3 warning signs we've spotted with Solution Financial (including 1 which is significant) .
