Insider Stock Buying Of Anaergia Delivers Return On CA$3.16m Investment
Insiders who purchased Anaergia Inc. (TSE:ANRG) shares in the past 12 months are unlikely to be deeply impacted by the stock's 13% decline over the past week. Even after accounting for the recent loss, the CA$3.16m worth of stock purchased by them is now worth CA$6.94m or in other words, their investment continues to give good returns.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Anaergia
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Ronen Kantor bought CA$980k worth of shares at a price of CA$0.40 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (CA$0.91), we still think insider buying is a positive. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Does Anaergia Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Anaergia insiders own about CA$43m worth of shares. That equates to 26% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
