Insider Buyers Lose AU$152k As Perpetual Resources Sheds AU$224k
The recent 10.0% drop in Perpetual Resources Limited's (ASX:PEC) stock could come as a blow to insiders who purchased AU$258.1k worth of stock at an average buy price of AU$0.022 over the past 12 months. Insiders purchase with the hope of seeing their investments increase in value over time. However, due to recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth AU$106.1k, which is not great.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Perpetual Resources
The Executive Chairman Julian Babarczy made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$105k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.022 each. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of AU$0.009. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.

Does Perpetual Resources Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that Perpetual Resources insiders own 23% of the company, worth about AU$1.5m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
