Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Peter Robert Botten, the Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Aurelia Metals Limited (ASX:AMI) recently shelled out AU$104k to buy stock, at AU$0.097 per share. Nevertheless, it only increased their shareholding by a minuscule percentage, and it wasn't a massive purchase by absolute value, either.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Aurelia Metals

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Non-Executive Nominee Director Franklyn Brazil bought AU$8.7m worth of shares at a price of AU$0.09 per share. That implies that an insider found the current price of AU$0.098 per share to be enticing. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

While Aurelia Metals insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. Their average price was about AU$0.12. This is nice to see since it implies that insiders might see value around current prices. Insider Ownership Of Aurelia Metals

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. That equates to 20% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
