Here's Why I Think International Holding Company PJSC (ADX:IHC) Might Deserve Your Attention Today

Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.

In the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, my choice may seem old fashioned; I still prefer profitable companies like International Holding Company PJSC (ADX:IHC). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Conversely, a loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the sweet milk of external capital may run sour.

How Fast Is International Holding Company PJSC Growing Its Earnings Per Share?

Even modest earnings per share growth (EPS) can create meaningful value, when it is sustained reliably from year to year. So it's no surprise that some investors are more inclined to invest in profitable businesses. Like the last firework on New Year's Eve accelerating into the sky, International Holding Company PJSC's EPS shot from د.إ1.21 to د.إ3.23, over the last year. You don't see 167% year-on-year growth like that, very often. That could be a sign that the business has reached a true inflection point.

I like to see top-line growth as an indication that growth is sustainable, and I look for a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin to point to a competitive moat (though some companies with low margins also have moats). The good news is that International Holding Company PJSC is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 6.2 percentage points to 33%, over the last year. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

Are International Holding Company PJSC Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

We would not expect to see insiders owning a large percentage of a د.إ281b company like International Holding Company PJSC. But we are reassured by the fact they have invested in the company. Indeed, they hold د.إ154m worth of its stock. That's a lot of money, and no small incentive to work hard. Despite being just 0.05% of the company, the value of that investment is enough to show insiders have plenty riding on the venture.

Should You Add International Holding Company PJSC To Your Watchlist?

International Holding Company PJSC's earnings have taken off like any random crypto-currency did, back in 2017. That EPS growth certainly has my attention, and the large insider ownership only serves to further stoke my interest. At times fast EPS growth is a sign the business has reached an inflection point; and I do like those. So to my mind International Holding Company PJSC is worth putting on your watchlist; after all, shareholders do well when the market underestimates fast growing companies. However, before you get too excited we've discovered 1 warning sign for International Holding Company PJSC that you should be aware of.
